  1. Great price for the power and ease of use

This was my first telescope that I've ever owned. So, let's begin there. I spent some time researching, and had decided that wanted something decent for my first telescope, but didn't want to have to put a large chunk of money into this, in case it proved more complicated than what I really had time to spare in learning. I saw this at my local Menards, on clearance, for $40. After seeing it was $70 here and even more on Amazon for the lower power 231 model, I figured, "Why not?!"

The instructions were pretty straight forward in putting everything together. So, that was a definite plus. Sighting the scope in was also VERY easy. I really appreciated how quickly I was able to get up and moving on this. I used the moon as my first target. After seeing several warnings about needing to be careful with daylight targets, I just decided to not even bother with the possible damage to my eyes from sun reflections, and just made it a go on an almost half moon last night. It took a little bit of figuring it out (about 30 minutes) of how to properly adjust everything, proper lens power, focusing in, etc., but once I got it, I was looking at the moon in glorious detail! So much so, I was able to use my iPhone 6's camera to take some pretty decent shots and post them to Facebook on my first night using it. And, I did it in my living room, looking out the window (as opposed to being out in the cold).

Considering I live in a city, I'm pretty impressed with what I can view, so far. Obviously, I'll be able to see more once I get above the city lights at a nearby park, or if we can get completely away from the city and view the night sky without the extra "noise" from nearby lighting. I'm looking forward to it!
